Goals and Resolutions

It's really a shame this doesn't coincide with any kind of New Year celebration. However, a new month is starting tomorrow and I suppose that counts.

Here are the goals and resolutions I'm making for myself and my reasons for making them.

1. Be more interesting. That's a really depressing way of putting it actually, when what I mean is make an effort to cultivate myself, branch out farther in my interests, and put them on display. Lately I feel like I just drudge around back and forth getting things done, and even though I do well for myself, I can't help feeling that I'm sinking into mediocrity. I worry that I'm not fully experiencing life, and now that I'm in my second year of college I worry that my time here will slip by without my taking advantage of it. I always pictured myself studying languages in college, maybe taking an art class, and I've always known I wanted to study English. Why then, have I allowed myself to get so caught up worrying about a concentration that will lead to a definite career that I've forgotten those ideas? I need to really focus on the things I love and am passionate about, because those are the things that are going to make me successful.

2. Master a (quick) morning routine. The first order of business is to figure out why my alarm clock is so temperamental and doesn't always work, or maybe just get a new one. Next, I need to pare down my hair and makeup routine while still looking presentable. I can't stand being sloppy and tired-looking, it makes me feel like I should still be in bed, and not at all like a fully functioning member of society.

3. Make better use of my camera. Granted, it's not terribly easy when it drains batteries like nobody's business and doesn't always take great quality pictures. I really should have paid better attention when I buying it but I was just so desperate for a camera right there and then for some reason.

4. Finish my room. While there's nothing necessarily wrong with my room, I still can't shake the feeling that I haven't fully moved in yet. I'm not 100% comfortable with the setup and some things still don't have a proper place. I need a cozy, cute, functional, neat space.

5. Write more. Papers are tiresome. Blogs are fun. Not to mention useful practice for getting my thoughts flowing. I know I need some sort of structure in order to keep this going, so for now I'll say my purpose will be to document how well I keep up with my goals and resolutions. Hopefully I'll have a lot to write about.
